This version of the Negroni stays true to its bittersweet backbone but adds a tantalizing heat that lingers. Complex, spicy, and herbaceous, it’s the cocktail equivalent of a lover with a sharp tongue and a slow-burning heart.

1 oz gin (a bold, botanical one works best)
1 oz sweet vermouth
1 oz Campari
1 slice of fresh jalapeño or 1/4 oz chili-infused simple syrup
Garnish: Orange twist or charred chili
Chill your glass: Use a rocks glass or a lowball tumbler.
Infuse the heat: Muddle a jalapeño slice in a mixing glass, or use a splash of chili-infused simple syrup.
Add the spirits: Pour in the gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari.
Stir with ice until well chilled and just slightly diluted — about 30 seconds.
Strain over a large cube into your glass.
Garnish: Express an orange twist over the top, or float a thin jalapeño slice or small charred chili for a sultry look.
